Description:

Wisła is the Polish word for the river Vistula which flows through the city of Kraków. In 1906 a Dr. Tadeusz Konczyński launched a football tournament in Kraków, effectively created several of the competing teams and supplied them with their initial uniforms. One of the teams, The Blues, merged with The Reds the following year to create Towarzystwo Sportowe Wisła - Wisła Sports Club. The club claims its red and blue heritage from these two founding groups. Soon after the foundation the club received a shipment of uniforms that contained a pair of stars on the front. It was decided to keep one of the stars and make it white, a symbol that has ever since remained a part of the club and regularly is featured on its shirts. Their main nickname - Biała Gwiazda - means White Star.

For the majority of Poland's Communist era the club used the name Gwardyjskie Towarzystwo Sportowe Wisła, Gwardyjskie meaning something like The Guard and referenced their connection to the Polish Interior Ministry. In 1991 the club returned to its traditional name of Wisła Kraków.

The club's emblem features all of these - a red and blue shield in front of a football, with a white star at the shield's center. The blue is a vertical stripe across the red, symbolic of the Vistula river. Atop the emblem is a crown, symbolic of Kraków's status as the capital of Poland from the 11th to 16th century and home of the Polish kings.The club's foundation and the official business name - Wisła Kraków Sportowa SA, something like Wisła Kraków Sports Inc.

GRN from Poland

That's wrong information. DTSG Kraków (1940-45) is not Wisla Krakow. DTSG is the first German club in Krakow. It was founded in 1940. It only took Wisla stadium, when Poland was under Nazi occupation.

Wisla Krakow are the color: Red, White and Blue. The text also has errors, but I improved it later

Thanks GRN. I found that info here - http://ligapolska.net/druzyny/wisla-krakow - but I've seen a couple other places that agree with you. I have updated the site to correct that and the colors.
