Description: After the 1998 J-League season Yokohama Flugels were merged into Yokohama Marinos, with the F in Yokohama F Marinos the only memory of the Flugels. A section of their supporters rejected the merger and created a new club that is owned and run by the supporters themselves, a novelty in Japan. They started in the third division Japan Football League and finally won back promotion to J1 for the 2007 season.
