Description:

Zagłębie means "coal field" and references Sosnowiec's location in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie - The coalfields of Dąbrowskie, a region of southern Poland. The club was founded as KS Milowice, Milowice being a village that was eventually incorporated into the city of Sosnowiec. Amongst the other older names Stal translates as steel, symbolic of the club's relationship to the large steel industry in the town. The current name Zagłębie Spółka Akcyjna means something like Zagłębie Inc but the club are generally known only as Zagłębie Sosnowiec. Because of their involvement in a match-fixing scandal, Zagłębie Sosnowiec will be automatically relegated at the end of the season. If they finish in the normal relegation places they'll go down to the third division, otherwise they'll go to the second.

Stadion Ludowy:

The stadium name - Stadion Ludowy - translates as Popular Stadium. The nicknames Zagłębiacy and Sosnowiczanie translate as Zaglebians and Sosnowiecians respectively.
