Description:

The Bulgarian V Group is the third division of Bulgarian football and is divided into 4 regional groups - Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast. The V Group is amateur unlike the professional clubs at the A and B level. The leagues take the V Group name as V is the third letter in the Bulgarian alphabet.

The league consists of 20 teams for the 2011-12 season though there are plans for a reduction to 18 teams from next season.

Format:

The 20 teams in the Bulgarian V Group - Southeast play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 38 games.
The season begins in August and ends in May with a 2-3 month winter break.
The champions are promoted to the Bulgarian Second Division (B Group)
The bottom 4 clubs will be relegated to their respective obshtina (provincial) leagues.
