| The MLS expansion team Seattle Sounders took the 2009 US Open Cup title with a 2-1 victory over DC United in Washington. It was the Sounders debut title and prevented United from claiming their third trophy in the tournament. Bethlehem (PA) Steel and Los Angeles Maccabee hold the record with five US Open Cup titles each. |
