The Erste Liga (First League) is the second-tier league in Austrian football and officially bears the name of title sponsor Red Zac, an Austrian retailer. The 12 teams play each other three times (two home and one away) for a total of 33 games. The champions are promoted to the Bundesliga. The bottom three clubs are relegated. The season runs from July to May with a two month winter break.
