For the 2009-10 season the IFA Championship has been split into two divisions, the second-tier IFA Championship 1 and the third-tier IFA Championship 2 with promotion and relegation between the two.

Format:

The 14 clubs play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 26 matches. The league champions are promoted automatically to the IFA Premiership while the 2nd place team goes into a promotion/relegation playoff with the 11th place team from the IFA Premiership.
