Description:

The league is officially known as Ligue 2 Orange after the title sponsor Orange, a French mobile phone company. The 20 clubs play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 38 games. The top three clubs are promoted to the first-tier Ligue 1, the bottom three clubs are relegated to the third-tier Championnat de France National. The season runs from July to May.
