Official Website: psl.co.za Description:The league is officially known as the ABSA Premier Soccer League, after the title sponsor ABSA, a large South African bank. It was founded in 1996 as the culmination of a series of mergers and rival leagues that fill South Africa's football history. It is a direct successor to the NSL (previously NPSL) founded in 1971. The 16 clubs play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 30 games. The bottom club is automatically relegated while the 15th placed club goes into a promotion/relegation playoff with the 2nd-4th teams from the First Division.
