Description:

The East of Scotland Football League First Division is the lower division of the two-tier East of Scotland Football League. The league is one of three senior leagues below the Scottish Football League, along with the Highland League and the South of Scotland League.There is no direct promotion/relegation between the leagues but when clubs from the Scottish Football League fail or the SFL expands it normally looks to these leagues for new members. The East of Scotland League typically draws its members from south-east Scotland - Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders and the area in between.

League Format:

  • The East of Scotland Football League First Division season begins in August and ends in May with no winter break.
  • The 12 teams play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 22 matches.
  • 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
  • Final league position is based on the total number of points earned over the full season.
  • The team with the most points is considered the league champion and promoted to the East of Scotland Football League Premier Division along with the 2nd placed team.
  • There is no relegation from the East of Scotland Football League First Division.
