Description:

The East of Scotland Football League First Division is the lower division of the two-tier East of Scotland Football League. The league is one of three senior leagues below the Scottish Football League, along with the Highland League and the South of Scotland League.There is no direct promotion/relegation between the leagues but when clubs from the Scottish Football League fail or the SFL expands it normally looks to these leagues for new members. The East of Scotland League typically draws its members from south-east Scotland - Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders and the area in between.

Format:

The 12 teams play each other twice (home and away) for a total of 22 games. The season runs from August to April with a three week winter break. The top two teams are promoted to the East of Scotland Premier Division. There is no relegation.
